Papillary Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Review

چکیده
Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is by far the most common malignancy of the upper aerodigestive tract. Most conventional-type SCCs do not present the surgical pathologist with diagnostic difficulty. Certain variants, however, can histologically mimic benign and other malignant diseases. In such cases, correct diagnosis is important for prognostic and therapeutic reasons. This article discusses the clinicopathologic features of the upper aerodigestive tract variant of SCC, i.e. Papillary Squamous Cell Carcinoma (PSCC). It is a rare variant of SCC having an exophytic papillary component. The article discusses the clinical features, differential diagnoses, immunohistochemical analysis and treatment and prognosis of this lesion. (Singh S, Garg KN, Gupta K, Bhat P. Squamous Cell Differentiation in Metastatic Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma: Metaplastic
Squamous cell differentiation (SCD) may occur in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) only at metastatic sites. We have studied cytokeratin CK5/6 and P63 along with TTF1 (thyroid transcription factor 1) and B-Raf (V-Raf murine sarcoma viral oncogene homolog B1) immunohistochemical expression in neck lymph node metastases of thyroid PTC showing SCD. The patient (21-years) presented wit...

Lymphoepithelial - like carcinoma, is rarely recognized in the urinary bladder and less commonly occurs with papillary transitional cell carcinoma i.e. mixed pattern. Also, less uncommon is the occurrence of carcinoma in situ changes in the adjacent urothelium of these tumors. Here, a case of lymphoepithelial – like carcinoma and papillary transitional cell carcinoma associated with carci...

متن کاملPrognostic and Predictive Clinical, Pathological and Molecular Markers for Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma: review of articles
Approximately 90% of all head and neck malignancies and 94% of oral malignancies are squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). Tobacco smoking is considered as the most important causative agent for SCC. Despite aggressive and multidisciplinary treatment approaches, there has been no significant improvement in 5-year survival over the past 20 years. Several prognostic and predictive clinical, pathological...

Unlike the primary tracheal tumors, squamous cell carcinoma of trachea is common, especially in smokers. This type of tumor has a low rate of survival and it is diagnosed too late on account of late presentation of its signs. The treatment of choice is surgical removal followed by adjuvant radiotherapy; Primary radiotherapy is the appropriate treatment in inoperable cases. In this study, we pre...
